General
Can someone else see my writing?
No, no one can see it. PenCake does not upload your writing to any server, but only stores it on your device. Therefore, you can write content you don't want to show to others without worry. This is one of the greatest features of PenCake. Even if you use the sync function, it only stores files to your own account's Google Drive or iCloud, so no one else can see them.
I want to use the app with the same account on multiple devices.
By using the sync feature of the app, you can sync your devices using the same cloud storage account. Google Drive and iCloud are currently supported. Using Google Drive, you can also sync between Android and Apple devices.
Does everything I wrote disappear when I change my phone or delete the app?
Yes, without syncing, all of your articles will disappear. This is because the written article is not uploaded to any server and is stored only on your device. Therefore, it is highly recommended to use the sync feature.
If you sync, it will back up your articles to the cloud storage you choose such as Google Drive. So even if you change your phone or reinstall the app, you can restore all your articles by syncing back to the same cloud account.
⚠️
In the case of the free version, only manual synchronization is possible, so please press the Sync Now button regularly to sync.
I forgot my password.
Rest assured. Please contact us by email and we will help you.

Premium purchase
When trying to restore the purchase, it says there is no purchase history.
On Android, when multiple accounts are registered in the device's account settings, it often fails to get the purchase history from Google Play. In this case, please delete all other accounts temporarily, except for the account used for the purchase, and then try to restore the purchase again. Sorry for the inconvenience. 😭
In case of changing from Android to iPhone or iPhone to Android, the app market is different, so in principle, it is impossible to restore the purchase. However, if you use the sync feature of the app, you can use the Premium without additional purchase even if you change the device.
I purchased a Premium, do I need to purchase more for each device?
No, if you use the sync feature of the app, not only the articles you have written, but also the Premium status will be synced. Therefore, if you link your existing device and an additional device using the sync function, you can use the Premium on all devices without purchasing additional Premiums.
Even if you do not use the sync function, you can use the Premium between Android devices or Apple devices without additional purchase by using the Restore Purchase function. You can restore your purchase by going to Menu > Settings > Premium page and pressing the Restore button in the upper right corner.
I purchased a Premium on Android, do I need to purchase it again on iPhone?
No, if you use the sync feature of the app, not only the articles you have written, but also the Premium status will be synced. Therefore, if you link your existing device and an additional device using the sync function, you can use the Premium on all devices without purchasing additional Premiums. However, if you have disposed of your previous device without syncing, the app market is different, so in principle, it is impossible to restore the purchase. In this case, please contact us by email.

Synchronization
The iCloud sync doesn't seem to work.
iCloud relies entirely on iOS to control file uploads and downloads. The problem is that sometimes file uploads and downloads of iCloud are delayed by iOS and even stopped. There is no way to force them to resume at the app level, so in this case, the sync also gets delayed and even stopped. We apologize for this inconvenience. In this case, please disable iCloud Drive in the iCloud settings on your device and re-enable it after a few seconds. Then, open the Apple's Files app and make sure you can see your general files in iCloud Drive. If nothing goes wrong, try syncing again in the PenCake app after a few minutes.
If your prefer more stable synchronization, we recommend using Google Drive. With Google Drive, this issue doesn't occur because it has full control over file upload/download at the app level. Please note that using Google Drive, you can sync even between iOS and Android or between iOS and Windows PC. (There is no Windows PC version app at this time, but we plan to release it in the future.)
I have synced to Google Drive, but there are no files in Google Drive.
The data synced to Google Drive is stored in the App Data Folder within your Google Drive. The app data folder is hidden, so it is not visible to the user, and only the amount of storage being used can be checked.
The reason for saving in the app data folder rather than the User Folder is to keep the data as safe as possible. This is because users can accidentally delete or modify files if saving to the user folder.
A desktop version of the app is going to be released in the future so that it will be possible to write and edit articles on the desktop.
I want to check the size of data synced to Google Drive.
Visit the desktop version of the Google Drive website. https://drive.google.com/
Click the ⚙️Settings button on the top right.
Go to Settings > App Management.
A list of apps using the App Data Folder will appear.
Just below the PenCake name, the amount of synchronized data is displayed.
⚠️
CAUTION: Please note that if you click Delete Hidden App Data here, the sync data will be completely deleted!
[403] storageQuotaExceeded error occurs.
This error means that synchronization is not possible because the Google Drive capacity of your account is full. You can check the capacity you are using on your Google Account page. Please note that the capacity used by an account is integrated and managed for all Google services.
Can I sync between iPhone and Android?
Yes, it is possible. If you sync with Google Drive, you can sync regardless of the device type. Since iCloud is only available on Apple devices, please understand that synchronization with Android is not possible.
Development plan
Are there any plans to release a PC or Mac version?
Yes, we plan to release it in the future. However, there are many basic functions that are currently lacking as a note app, so for the time being, we plan to focus on adding these functions. Therefore, it seems that the PC version can be developed quite later. We promise that we will endeavor to make it available as soon as possible. Please understand that it is difficult to mention specific timing due to the nature of development work.
It is inconvenient that there is no search function.
We are very sorry that there is not yet a search function. We are strongly considering the search function as the next major feature to add. We will try to make it available as soon as possible.
I would like to have formatting features such as bold, italic, size, color, and highlight.
We definitely plan to add formatting features such as bold and italic in the future. Please note that there is a possibility to adopt the Markdown style for those formatting features in order to maintain the merit of not slowing down even in a very long article like now. In case of the font size function, we consider applying larger text when specifying a heading in body text. We will try to add color and highlight functions as much as possible if technically possible, but please understand that it is difficult to give a definite answer at the moment as there are many variables that are difficult to predict.
I wish I could freely change the order of articles.
We plan to add the function to freely change the order of articles in the future. It may be inconvenient, but as a temporary solution, we recommend to arbitrarily change the order of articles by modifying the date of each article in chronological order. We also recommend to add numbers like 01 and 02 in front of the title in the title order.
